Rule Changes and Important Information:

As most of you are aware the club comittee meets once a month to discuss various issues raised on our waters and handle changes in rules that might be proposed etc:

Recent changes have been made and we, as a club, feel it is is important that our members get the chance to see what rules are being changed, understand why, and also know that if you strongly feel against any rule then you, as a member, have the right to challenge any changes at the AGM. If you wish more immediate action on rules then feel free to come along to a comittee meeting every 1st Tuesday of the month at the Hempton Bell Pub from 7.30 PM and let us know. Its YOUR club after all!

With all that in mind please take a look at the following changes that are in place or will be in place:

River Wensum Rule changes:

In place now; officially acted upon from start of season 2012!

No course fishing on the upper section (bypass bridge to Sculthorpe) from April thru September.

Strict catch and release policy on ALL fish

Barbless hooks and flies only.

Maximum 8 trout to be caught on a daily basis.

The reasoning behind these changes is that, as a club, we are incredibly lucky to have access to a section of the Wensum that is almost a pristine wild brown trout fish habitat. In order to aid in the keeping of that environment; help with trout growth and survival, and also give the fly fishing club members the best value for money it is considered worthy to protect a section of the clubs river fishing. The club has both regular members and day ticket members that fish solely for the wild brown trout in the upper section of the river; and protecting the fish, the enviroment and the standard of the fishing in that area will go a long way to producing an exemplar fishing location. At the same time the club will be placing new signs along thew stretch and new bailiffs for the river have been put in place.

Foxley Lakes:

Reccomendation on upper line weight limit:

Recently alot of very thick line has been recovered from the various trees and bushes etc of the main carp lake at Foxley. The club intends to place a notice on the current rule board recomending that a line limit of 10lbs is adequate to fish the lake. It is hoped this may reduce the amount of line left on snags and act for the betterment of the enviroment.

Foxley lake 2:

Ground bait use in this lake has come under question; the comittee proposes:

1KG of groundbait can be used for feeding/method fishing per day on the new lake.
